The Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Allied Health Sciences, in collaboration with the Department of Biochemistry, MGMCH, successfully organized a two-day hands-on workshop on April 29 and May 1, 2025.
The workshop was focused on improving specimen collection techniques and was conducted by Mr. Manish Choudhary and the expert team from BD (Becton Dickinson).
Day 1 included a formal inauguration followed by an introductory session by Dr. Bushra Fiza and Dr. Bhavana Singhal. The core session titled "First Time Right – Get Sample Right" was led by the BD team, covering theoretical and practical aspects of proper sample collection.
We were honored by the presence of Dr. V.K. Kapoor, Pro Vice Chancellor of MGUMST, who joined the workshop and motivated the students. He enlightened everyone with his inspiring words, highlighting the importance of precision in healthcare practices and continuous learning.
Day 2 was entirely dedicated to hands-on training using dummy arms and live demonstrations at training stalls for urine collection, arterial/venous blood collection (including difficult access), and blood culture procedures. Students were also guided on standard practices and product usage in real-time scenarios.
