Central Research Molecular Laboratory

MGUMST CRL Molecular lab has state of the art molecular research facility for all interdisciplinary studies. The thrust area to run this lab is its own R&D programs in technology development, assay development and biomarker discovery. This lab is equipped with cutting edge technologies like Real-Time PCR, NAAT, DNA Hybridization assays, EVOS FL Auto microscope, Immunological assays and Culture and Drug susceptibility studies.

MGUMST central laboratory wish to extend its services in communities by participating in Health checkup plans and also by establishing memorandum of understanding with other hospitals at periphery, in order to benefits all needy and disserving patients.

Animal House

  • The lab has 60 Computers with CAL software which have access to National Essential Drug Lists, Standard Treatment Guidelines, Banned Drug List of CDSCO, WHO and many others to impart greater knowledge.

Animal House was established in MGUMST under medical college in the year 2001. It has recently been relocated to newer premises. This is a vital area for the research aspect in animal studies. Animal House is divided into separate areas for storage of experimental animals, washing, storage and procedural rooms as per the norms of CPCSEA, Government of India.

Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) looks after the care, usage, evaluation and permissions related to the experimental studies on animals as per the guidelines.

According to the new UG curriculum for teaching Pharmacology, the required knowledge and skill are imparted by using computer assisted module. And the animal hold area is required as per the CPCSEA guidelines, only if, research and postgraduate training is envisaged.

Health informatics is the field of science and engineering that aims at developing methods and technologies for the acquisition, processing, and study of patient data, which can come from different sources and modalities, such as electronic health records, diagnostic test results, medical scans. The health domain provides an extremely wide variety of problems that can be tackled using computational techniques.

Health informatics is a spectrum of multidisciplinary fields that includes study of the design, development and application of computational innovations to improve health care. The disciplines involved combines medicine fields with computing fields, in particular computer engineering, software engineering, information engineering, bioinformatics, bio-inspired computing, theoretical computer science, information systems, data science, information technology, autonomic computing, and behavior informatics. In academic institutions, medical informatics research focus on applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare and designing medical devices based on embedded systems. In some countries term informatics is also used in the context of applying library science to data management in hospitals.

  • Museum of all the departments (Anatomy, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Community Dentistry etc) includes specimens, charts, educational articles, interesting case studies, plates & models.
  • The catalogue system in museum is maintained according to MCI criteria with well- equipped demonstration rooms, which are well ventilated and spacious.
  • The histological lab also has modern microscopes with all different types of slides for teaching purpose.
  • The museum of the pathology department is the backbone of the college & hospital & boasts of a collection of specimens of the rare disease.
  • The museum of the anatomy department consists of a large number of specimens, charts, models spread over all the sections viz. Dissection Hall, Museum & Histology laboratory
  • Forensic medicine and toxicology department has its museum, which showcases different type of weapons, toxicology samples, osteology samples for bone age and sex determination, preserved organs, to name a few.
  • Various departments of dental college consist of museums consisting of models and charts describing about importance and maintenance of oral hygiene, about tooth development process, about various dental procedures and dental anomalies. These charts and models are useful for the knowledge disbursement of dental student as well as for the patient’s education.

  • National Digital Library: Library has Access of NDL: Ministry of Human Resource Development under its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology has initiated the National Digital Library of India (NDL India) pilot project to develop a framework of virtual repository of learning resources with a single-window search facility. Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find out the right resource with less effort and in minimum time.
  • Shodhganga is the digital repository of Indian Electronic Theses and Dissertation by the INFLIBNET Centre. All MGUMST PhD Theses have been uploaded on it.
  • Institutional Digital Repository (MGUMST ई-संग्रह ): The Central Library has established an Institutional Digital Repository (ई-संग्रह) Using Dspace Software. This software is used for creating repositories for published digital content. It is content management systems and systems. This repository software serves a specific need as a digital archives system, focused on the long-term storage, access and preservation of digital content. Clinical Trial Centre
Year of Established: 2020
  • Clinical trial center of MGUMST incepted on year 2020.
  • Till date 18 clinical trials were approved, 7 were completed and 11 are ongoing.
  • Major indications of the clinical trials including metastatic colorectal cancer, metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy, typhoid conjugate vaccine, advanced renal cell carcinoma, bone metastases from solid tumors, Peritoneal Carcinoma, musculoskeletal pain, metastatic breast cancer etc.
  • Majority of studies are multinational.
  • All the necessary infrastructure and facilities is available including drug storage room, monitoring room and documentation room for the smooth conducting of clinical trials.
  • Concerned principal investigators and site staff involving trials are trained with the GCP and strict adherence with the provided guidelines by the FDA and CDSCO.
  • Institutional ethics committee is registered with the CDSCO.

  • Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital Blood Bank is a state of art Blood Bank with NABH accreditation.
  • Department has modern histopathology, cytopathology, hematology and service laboratories for catering the needs of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital attached to the medical college.
  • The blood bank is equipped with modern technology and blood component facilities. It operates round the clock for issue of blood components to patients mainly in-house and to other surrounding hospitals.
  • Our blood bank supports Voluntary blood donation with more than 80% collection in camps, an in-house blood donor registry with more 4000 donors registered.
  • Our blood bank promotes rational use of blood components and safe blood transfusion through good manufacturing practices controlled by quality standards, skilled manpower and high-end technology for component separation and Apheresis procedure.

  • Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital Blood Bank is a state of art Blood Bank with NABH accreditation.
  • Department has modern histopathology, cytopathology, hematology and service laboratories for catering the needs of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital attached to the medical college.
  • The Centre for Cancer Immunotherapy [CCI] is at the forefront of exploring new avenues for novel immune- based cancer treatments, as well as predicting and improving the effectiveness of existing immunotherapies.
  • Our findings have opened up new avenues for bench-to-bedside translation and have contributed toward the development of novel DC based immunotherapeutic approach for better cancer treatment and management. CCI has the first state-of-art platform Clean Room 1000 particle free [ISO-6] in India for cancer immunotherapy.
  • CCI is focused on development of new technologies for personalized treatments modalities that are safe and affordable in cancer management through the use of dendritic cell-based immunotherapies for recurrent/metastatic inoperable oral cavity cancer, recurrent/metastatic TNBC patients and metastatic Gall bladder cancer DC based vaccines will be used as personalized intervention by modulating their immune response.
  • Our goal is to accelerate and synergize efforts to quickly translate fundamentals from basic cancer research into the clinics for effective treatment of cancer patients. Also, CCI is in continuous process to develop and standardize methodologies for measuring the immune response to these investigational immunotherapies and establishing new tumor markers for clinical response.
  • CCI is engaged in Translational Medicine that aims to improve the health of cancer patients. Seeing the urgency CCI is already working on Biomarkers & Diagnostics that are the key-component to diagnose a cancer in various malignancies at different stages. Large scale validation of tumor associated antigen namely SPAG9 in Breast, ovarian, cervical, bladder and renal cell cancers is going on as depicted in IHC figure (C). This will eventually help us to monitor cancer patients during various treatment modalities, and to measure patient response to therapeutic modalities.
  • CCI is committed to dissect the complexity and heterogeneity of tumor microenvironment (TME) that includes surrounding blood vessels, immune cells, fibroblasts, signalling molecules and the extracellular matrix (ECM). This would in fact help Medical oncologist for the course of treatment available for various cancer for better prognosis and will have huge impact on the outcome of cancer treatment.

Medical Genetics department at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital is first of its kind in Rajasthan. Some of the facilities available for research and diagnosis are:

  • Dental Laboratory is a backbone of a good dental college and hospital, for rendering a good rehabilitation of the patient. In Dental College, separate labs and individual workstations are present for both the Under-graduates and Post-graduates.
  • Different labs include Ceramic lab, casting lab, orthodontics lab, endodontics lab, pre- clinical lab etc.
  • The laboratory is equipped with state of the art equipments like Vita ceramic furnace, MultiMate all ceramic furnace, induction casting machine, milling machine to name a few. The laboratory facilitates the fabrication of a variety of dental prostheses of high quality to serve the patients.

  • MGUMST Skill Lab is a state of the art, well-equipped training center.
  • The major vision of this skill lab focuses around on :
    • Early exposure for medical students to both clinical as well as life support skills
    • To impart high quality standardized procedural and clinical skills training for interns and junior doctors.
    • Impart Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support training courses.
    • Provide ATLS training to all post-graduates and staff.
    • To introduce Life Support Skills Training into medical and allied curriculum as competency-based education
    • To educate the community at large about cardiac arrest and basic resuscitation skills.
  • Some of the important courses that are practiced and preached here to faculty and post graduates are ATLS, American Heart Association (AHA), Certified Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support Courses (ACLS).
  • This skill lab also serves as the first in state provider of ATLS course.
  • It is also the nodal center for Pediatric BLS course.
