About Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology (IR) spans across virtually every organ system. By leveraging advanced image guidance, IR offers highly effective, minimally invasive alternatives to traditional open surgery for a wide range of medical conditions, resulting in reduced risk, less pain, and faster recovery times for patients.

Overview
Cath Lab Recovery Room

The Cath Lab Recovery area in the Dept. of Interventional Radiology provides safe and efficient pre and post-procedure care for patients undergoing minimally invasive image-guided interventions.

Patients are closely monitored after procedures with continuous assessment of vital signs, puncture sites, pain control, and overall recovery. Supported by a trained team of doctors, nurses, and technicians, the recovery unit ensures smooth patient care, comfort, safety, and timely management of any complications, maintaining high standards of quality and patient-centered care.

IR OPD

The Interventional Radiology OPD provides specialized consultation and evaluation for patients requiring minimally invasive image-guided treatments. Patients are assessed by experienced Interventional Radiologists, who review clinical history, imaging findings, and treatment options to formulate individualized management p lans. The OPD serves as an important platform for patient counselling, pre-procedure evaluation, follow-up care, and multidisciplinary coordination, ensuring comprehensive, safe, and patient-centered interventional care.

Departmental Services
Overview
IR OPD Procedure Room

The Interventional Radiology Procedure Room is equipped with an advanced ultrasound (USG) machine for performing a wide range of non-vascular and minor image-guided procedures. Common procedures include FNAC, biopsies, aspirations, drain placements, catheter insertions, and other minimally invasive interventions performed under real-time ultrasound guidance. The procedure room ensures precision, safety, sterility, and patient comfort while enabling efficient day-care interventional services.
