Facilities

Hematopoietic (Blood and Marrow) Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT/ BMT) is routinely carried out in our department since 2020. We have a dedicated HEPA filtered isolation BMT ward for this service that has trained, qualified and experienced staff.

Hematopoietic Stem Cell (Blood & Marrow) Transplantations (HSCT/ BMT)

Our department commenced HSCT/ BMT service for patients in 2020

Till July 2024, we have done a total of 64 transplants, making us the fastest grown transplant service in Rajasthan

This includes 41 autologous, 13 allogeneic HLA matched sibling, 6 haploidentical and 1 MUD (matched unrelated donor) transplants

Various conditions for which transplants have been successfully carried out include Multiple Myeloma, Aplastic Anemia, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Non Hodgkin Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Fanconi Anemia, Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD), Pure Red Cell Aplasia (PRCA), Hyper IgM Syndrome

Our department also has an advanced day care centre where patients are treated from 8 AM to 6 PM. This allows us to provide short term treatment for all hematological services, including transfusions.

We have a dedicated Pediatric Hematology Oncology division that provides customized service and treatment to all our children with blood disorders

Other specialised treatment services we offer are:
  • Isolation rooms

  • Car T Cell Therapy

  • Gene Therapy

  • Plasmapheresis

  • Granulocyte transfusions

  • Stem cell harvesting

  • FFP, cryoprecipitates, Platelets

Academics

We have a NMC recognized post graduate teaching program which provides degree course leading to the degree of DM in Clinical Hematology.

overview

In addition, Postgraduate and Undergraduate teaching is conducted to doctors and students of our medical college. Nursing teaching is a focus with special emphasis on management of patients with blood disorders. Jaipur Swasthya Charcha Consultative hematology services are offered to the other departments in the hospital. Daily teaching rounds and multidisciplinary treatment boards decide personalized treatment for our patients.

Microscopic teaching sessions with Penta headed microscope is used for teaching on a regular basis. Other features include Journal Club discussions, Case Presentations and Special OPD Clinics Telemedicine Consultation is regularly offered to benefit patients who are living far away Patient Advocacy Groups assist in better understanding and counselling.

overview

Regular Seminars, CMEs and Conferences are held, including in collaboration with various academic organization (IAP, IMA, FOGSI) Mock examination are conducted for students of hematology, not only for our hospital but also other centers in Jaipur and Rajasthan.

Community Outreach Activities/Thalassemia camps are held regularly in surrounding areas like Education of School Children, Vaccination and Screening are highlights of our other activities. Community partnerships include many organizations.

Research Projects

A number of research projects are carried out by our department including thesis projects and prospective interventional studies.

Artificial Intelligence

Use of artificial intelligence to provide personalized service and optimize outcome is a new endevour of our department

Hematology Ward

The department has a dedicated Hematology ward for inpatient management of patients requiring intensive monitoring and treatment.

The ward caters to patients receiving chemotherapy, supportive transfusion therapy, management of complications such as infections or tumor lysis syndrome, and other specialized hematological treatments. The facility is staffed by trained medical and nursing personnel experienced in the care of hematology patients.

Hematology Outpatient Department (OPD)

The Hematology OPD provides comprehensive outpatient care for patients with a wide range of benign and malignant hematological disorders. Services include clinical evaluation, diagnostic work-up, treatment planning, chemotherapy administration planning, and long-term follow-up of patients with conditions such as anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukemias, lymphomas, and coagulation disorders.

The OPD also facilitates counseling, monitoring of treatment response, and coordination of advanced therapies including stem cell transplantation.

Minor Operation Theatre (Minor OT)

The Department of Clinical Hematology is equipped with a dedicated Minor Operation Theatre for performing essential hematological procedures under strict aseptic precautions.

The facility is routinely used for procedures such as bone marrow aspiration, bone marrow biopsy, lumbar puncture for intrathecal chemotherapy, central venous catheter care, and other minor interventional procedures required for the management of hematological disorders.

The Minor OT is equipped with appropriate procedural instruments, monitoring equipment, and emergency resuscitation facilities to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Departmental Library

The Department of Clinical Hematology maintains a departmental library to support academic and research activities. The library contains standard hematology textbooks, reference materials, journals, and digital resources that are accessible to faculty members, residents, and students.

It serves as an important resource for continuous medical education, case discussions, research work, and academic preparation.

Pentahead Microscope

The department has a pentahead microscope that facilitates simultaneous viewing by multiple observers. This advanced teaching microscope enables faculty members, residents, and students to review peripheral blood smears, bone marrow aspirates, and cytological preparations together.

It significantly enhances academic discussions, improves diagnostic accuracy, and serves as an important tool for training postgraduate students in hematopathology.

Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit

The department houses a dedicated Bone Marrow Transplant Unit designed for the management of patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

The unit is equipped with specialized isolation rooms, HEPA filtration systems, and strict infection control measures to maintain a protective environment for immunocompromised patients.

The BMT unit provides facilities for pre-transplant evaluation, conditioning therapy, transplantation procedures, and post-transplant monitoring and supportive care.
