FAQ

MG Dental College offers the following programmes:

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) – 5-year programme
  • Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) – 3-year programme
  • PhD Programme – Available in both part-time and full-time modes

Yes. Dental students receive extensive, mandatory hands-on training under the supervision of faculty.

During the initial two years of the 5-year BDS programme, students undergo extensive pre-clinical laboratory training before progressing to treating real patients under supervision.

After successfully completing the final BDS examinations, students undertake a 1-year compulsory rotating internship. During the internship, they manage patient diagnosis, restorations, root canal treatments, extractions and minor oral surgeries under faculty supervision.

Students pursuing postgraduate education can enrol in MDS programmes, which focus on refining and upgrading clinical skills. The programmes are offered across seven specialities and emphasise live patient cases, simulation laboratories and advanced instrumentation.

MG Dental College offers MDS programmes in seven dental specialities approved by the National Dental Commission (NDC):

  • Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics: Focuses on tooth preservation, root canal treatments and cosmetic restorations.
  • Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics: Focuses on correcting misaligned teeth and jaws using braces and clear aligners.
  • Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge: Focuses on replacing missing teeth using dentures, implants and crowns.
  • Periodontics: Focuses on the prevention and treatment of gum diseases and bone loss.
  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery: Covers complex surgical procedures involving the face, jaw, mouth and neck.
  • Oral Medicine & Radiology: Focuses on diagnosing oral diseases and facial pain, using imaging techniques such as intraoral and extraoral radiographs and CBCT scans.
  • Paediatric & Preventive Dentistry: Provides specialised dental care for children and adolescents.

After completing BDS, graduates can explore career opportunities across clinical practice, specialisation, government services, management, research, academia and international practice.
