Dr. Sudhir Sachdev is Professor in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Chief Advisor to the Chairperson-cum-Chancellor at Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology (MGUMST), Jaipur. He also served as the Vice Chancellor of the University. MGUMST, established on 23 May 2011, is Rajasthan’s first self-financed private medical university. Dr. Sachdev was the Founder Pro-President of the University and served in that capacity for nine years from its inception.
Dr. Sachdev completed his MBBS and MD in Anaesthesiology from SMS Medical College. Following his postgraduate training, he served for ten years as Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Division Chief at Jaipur Fertility Centre, a premier centre for Advanced Reproductive Technology and Gynaecological Endoscopy in India. He also undertook observer ship training in anaesthesiology for Assisted Reproductive Technology procedures at Mount Sinai Hospital and Cornell University. His areas of special expertise include anaesthesia for Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Assisted Reproductive Technology procedures, and Orthopaedic Surgery.
He possesses extensive experience in academic administration and hospital management, having served in several key leadership positions including Medical Superintendent, Executive Director, and Chief Executive Officer at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, a major tertiary care teaching hospital with more than 1,450 beds, including the advanced Sri Ram Cancer and Superspeciality Centre. He has been closely associated with the institution since its establishment and has played a significant role in its growth and development. He has also been instrumental in the formulation of new academic programmes, curriculum development, and institutional policies of the University.
Dr. Sachdev represented the University as a member of the Medical Council of India for two terms and also served as a member of the Finance Committee of the Council.
Apart from his academic and administrative accomplishments, Dr. Sachdev is widely recognised as a connoisseur of arts and culture.
